Very down-to-earth, approachable teaching style, with lots of individual and group interaction. The
examples on the second day were so helpful and I'll definitely use the templates on the CD —
I REALLY needed them!
I was skeptical coming into this, but after a lot of collaborative laughs and some key
exercises demonstrating the positive effects of the planning process, I will make the
effort to get the people together for a day to plan in detail.
We had a sound and worthy introduction to Scrum. We gained several
important insights. Firstly it confirmed some of what we already knew
and practice (albeit informally) in terms of agile methodology which
was heartening and valid in itself. More importantly it provided a
huge amount to think about and potenitally use in formalising our
approach. This in order to gain ever greater efficiencies on time
management and effort, cost savings for both us and our clients, better
and more recognisable project deliverables and generally fewer project smells!
The string exercise was very good at demonstrating the concepts, which were very helpful
in reflecting on my projects.
In the NGO world, we rarely take the time for planning, because everything is deemed
'urgent'. These tools, and the training to use them, are invaluable.
If I can implement all I've learned this will revolutionize my work.
From documenting the scope of a project to estimating the length of a piece of string,
Rob presented an excellent workshop on how to manage our projects and stay sane. Highly
recommended for insights on how to get things done.
I can see many uses for the tips on how to manage projects effectively in my current
and future work. This was a very valuable and well-organized workshop. Thanks!
It's really wonderful to see someone who gets so excited about the work they do. Rob is like
a kid in a candy store when it comes to project management!
The single most valuable thing I learned in the past year was from you — and it
was through using your Statement of Work template. It's changed the way we do business,
and it's made an incalculable difference. So THANK YOU!!
Because I can see using [Microsoft Project], I found the workshop very interesting and
valuable.
Rob Purdie helps bring sanity to overwhelming chaos. Rob understands both process and
execution. If you've got a project so big it's making your head hurt, there's no
better ally for your organization.
I was pleasantly surprised to find a 1 day overview course that was so focused and
useful. I have some great tools to take back to the office! This would be a great
12 week BCIT course!
Faciliator is very passionate about project management and his energy transferred to
participants.
Thanks, Rob — I thought the workshop was great! I REALLY appreciate that you have provided
us with your templates. I expect they will be very useful on my future projects. I learned more
over these 2 days than I did in my whole university-level course in project
management.
Looking forward to sharing the learnings with the rest of my organization!
Thanks for all your help — your energy and passion for Scrum really showed and you seemed to convince all that attended that Scrum was for us!
Very practical training, excellently presented.
This was an excellent overview complete with invaluable templates which can catapult
a project from 'survival mode' to successful strategic delivery! I'm inspired and
can't wait to try it out!
